Marketplace Guidelines

 

We work hard to keep the marketplace safe. But we can’t do it alone. We need your help to keep selling and buying safe for everyone.

Keep it neighborly.

Buyers and sellers on Merpute are real people, most are not retail professionals. Treat them like you would your neighbor.

Accurately represent yourself and your stuff to them. Only list items you intend to sell. At a price you intend to sell it at. If you negotiate, do so in good faith.

Prohibited Conduct:

  • Sending chat messages intended to threaten, degrade, or harass another user
  • Listing items associated with hate groups or glorifying violence
  • Sending messages or listing items with racial slurs
  • Listings or messages that provide false information
  • Impersonating another user or seller.
  • Posting misleading or deceptive product descriptions.
  • Engaging in any form of spamming or unsolicited advertising.
  • Leaving fake reviews or manipulating ratings.

Keep it safe.

To keep you safe, we recommend that all communication takes place within the website and not to share personal or financial information for online transactions.

Prohibited Conduct:

  • Attempting to take a transaction off the Merpute website (meeting in real life).
  • Trades or partial trades (trading items so neither user pays or only partially pays).
  • Sharing personal contact information (phone number, email, address) before a transaction is completed.
  • Requesting or providing payment through unverified third-party services.
  • Engaging in phishing or any other form of online scam.

Keep it legal.

We follow the law. So should you. All listed items must be legal to sell and legal to ship — under federal, state and local law. If you don’t own it, don’t sell it.

Additional Guidelines:

  • Accurate Product Representation: Sellers must provide accurate and detailed descriptions, photos, and conditions of their items.
  • Prompt Communication: Users are expected to respond to inquiries and messages in a timely manner.
  • Shipping and Delivery: Sellers must adhere to their stated shipping policies and provide tracking information when available.
  • Return and Refund Policies: Sellers should clearly outline their return and refund policies, which must comply with Merpute’s general policies.
  • Respectful Communication: All users are expected to communicate respectfully and professionally with each other.
  • Reporting Violations: Users should report any violations of these guidelines or suspicious activity to Merpute through the Help Center.
  • Account Security: Users are responsible for maintaining the security of their accounts and passwords.
  • Transaction Records: Users are encouraged to keep records of their transactions for future reference.
  • Dispute Resolution: Users should attempt to resolve disputes directly with each other. If a resolution cannot be reached, users can contact Merpute for assistance.
  • Policy Updates: Merpute reserves the right to update these guidelines at any time. Users will be notified of any significant changes.
  • User Feedback: We encourage users to provide feedback to help improve the marketplace.
